I'm starting to put together some informational pages that I think would be useful to anyone that wants to have their own web site, but doesn't know anything about setting up and administering a web site. 

Website Basics   discribes the different technologies you can use for your web site. It focuses on the choice between static self-contained html web pages, static web pages using CSS, and dynamically generated web pages. 

FTP Basics   covers the absolute barebones minimum you need to know to be able to use FTP to move files from your desktop computer to your hosted web site.

Open Source for the Web  introduces you to some of the great open source programs that you can use to host, run, set up, control, maintain, edit, your web site.
